Responsibilities I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:--- - Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager or designee, performs assigned surgical "scrub" duties and maintains sterile techniques for all surgical procedures.--- - Prepares the patient, operating room, equipment, and instruments for surgery, maintaining aseptic techniques in accordance with nursing practice and standards of care.--- - May be responsible for the assessment, treatment, or care of patients of all ages. Must be competent in the interpretations of the patient's self-report or behavior and the information must be interpreted with an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional, & chronological maturtion process. Treatment should be individualized & reflect an understanding of the developmental needs & range of treatment for each patient.II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:--- - Essential: standing, walking, stooping/bending, twisting body, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking, lifting usual amount of 35 lbs up to 50 lbs, pushing/pulling usual amount of 50 pounds of force, carrying usual amount of 35 lbs, reaching above/at/below shoulder, repetitive arm/hand motions, static/frequent gripping of an object for prolonged periods. ---- - Operates computer, copier, printer, fax machine, multi-line telephone, and various surgical equipment, instrumentation and supplies.III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:--- - Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions. ---- - Exposed to chemicals, body fluids, communicable diseases.--- - Required Personal Protective Equipment: Eye protection, gown, mask, mask with face shield, non-sterile/sterile medical gloves, CAPR.IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:A. - EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:--- - Completion of a certified Surgical Technologist, Operating Room Technician or comparable training program; or three (3) years experience as an OR Technician or Surgical Technologist in an acute care or outpatient setting.--- - Association of Surgical Technologists Certification preferred.--- - Current BLS/HCP CPR certification.B. EXPERIENCE:--- - Experience to demonstrate:o - Strong organizational and self-motivational skills.o - Ability to deal with patients/visitors tactfully and courteously.o - Ability to work and maintain composure under constantly changing situations with numerous interruptions.
