POSITION TITLE: REGIONAL RECREATIONAL THERAPIST V The Regional
Recreational Therapist V technically and administratively plans,
organizes, develops, implements, and administers Kaua'i Region's
Recreational Therapy program by identifying resident's/patient's
needs and providing for the delivery of supportive, therapeutic,
and quality recreational activities. This position provides input
to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of
responsibility. This position reports to the Regional Chief Nurse
Executive, position no. 109572, or its designee. Candidates must be
able to work nights and weekends and must be able to travel on a
regular basis to and from facilities within the region as assigned.
STATUS : Permanent / Full-time (1.0 FTE) LOCATION : This position
is a regional position and is located in the Recreational Therapy
department of Kaua'i Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH) and Samuel
Mahelona Memorial Hospital (SMMH). KVMH, SMMH, and The Kaua'i
Region Clinics, which consist of The Clinic at Waimea, The Clinic
at Port Allen, The Clinic at Kalaheo, The Clinic/Urgent Care at
Po'ipu, and the Clinic at Kapa'a are all part of the Kaua'i Region,
Hawai'i Health Systems Corporation, a public benefit corporation of
the State of Hawai'i. The Recreational Therapy department is a
multi-disciplinary team and provides an appropriate therapeutic
recreation program to maintain the physical and mental health of
patients and to assist patients with achieving their physical and
mental rehabilitation goals. SALARY : $5,178 per month at 1.0 FTE -
SR24 - BU13 BENEFITS:

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS To qualify, you must meet all of the
following requirements. Please note that unless specifically
indicated, the required education and experience are credited based
on a 40-hour workweek. Education: Graduation from an accredited
college or university with a bachelor's degree in recreation,
physical education, special education, psychology or sociology
which included a minimum of twelve semester credit hours in
recreation or therapy oriented areas of study such as community
recreation, physical fitness, personality and behavior, and/or
abnormal psychology. Licensure:
- Current, valid State of Hawai'i driver's license is
required.
- P.U.C license is desirable. Otherwise, must be eligible and
willing to apply. Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) from the
American Heart Association. Experience: Four (4) years of
progressively responsible professional work experience in a
recreational therapy program which along with other therapy
programs, provided comprehensive treatment and rehabilitative
services to the physically and mentally ill and handicapped,
emotionally disturbed, developmentally disabled, substance abused,
psychosocially delinquent and the aging.
Supervisory Experience: Supervisory aptitude is the demonstration
of aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties
through successful completion of regular or special assignments
which involve some supervisory responsibilities or aspects; by
serving as a group or team leader, previous work experience in a
position that demonstrates or performs supervisory functions or in
similar work in which opportunities for demonstrating supervisory
capabilities exist; by completion of training courses in
supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in
work assignments; or by favorable appraisals by a supervisor
indicating the possession of supervisory potential.
Job Requirements:
- Implement therapeutic recreation services for patients
- Participate in recreational therapy services
- Developing and implementing therapeutic recreational treatment
programs
- Contribute recreation therapy information to the treatment
team
- Develop, evaluate and conduct therapeutic recreational therapy
treatment programs
- Developing and implementing therapeutic recreational programs
for patients
- Conduct patient assessments and establish recreational/leisure
therapy treatment goals
- Develop, evaluate and conduct therapeutic recreational therapy
treatment programs
- Ordering and maintaining recreational therapy supplies
- Contribute all recreation therapy information to the treatment
team
- Provide orientation for Patients to recreation therapy by
conducting groups in recreational
- Develop and implement specialized recreation therapy
services
- Completing an initial recreational assessment and completed
recreational summary
- Facilitate recreational therapy groups as scheduled per
unit
- Assess the recreational needs of patients
- Direct medically approved recreational programs for
patients
- Engage the residents in recreational activities
- Organize and participate in recreational activities
- Implement, and direct therapeutic recreational programs and
activities for patients
- COVID-19 VACCINATION REQUIREMENT COVID-19 vaccination is a
