SPEECH PATHOLOGIST III The Speech Pathologist conducts evaluations
and plans for and administers treatment programs pertaining to all
varieties of speech-language disorders; assists in planning and
developing overall programs; conducts speech-language diagnostic
and treatment services; evaluates speech motor systems; attends
clinics and conferences; serves on diagnostic teams; provides
consultative services to parents, nurses, etc.; prepares reports;
may supervise subprofessional personnel; and performs other related
duties as assigned. This position reports directly to the Physical
Therapist IV, position no. 29281, or its designee. - Candidates
must be able to travel to and from other facilities within the
region on a regular basis as needed. - STATUS: Permanent /
Full-Time (1.0 FTE) LOCATION: - -This position is located in the
Rehabilitation - Physical Therapy department and services the
hospital and all outpatient clinics for Kaua'i Veterans Memorial
Hospital (KVMH) and Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (SMMH), KVMH,
SMMH and the Kaua'i Region Clinics, which includes: The Clinic at
Waimea, The Clinic at Port Allen, The Clinic at Kalaheo, The
Specialty Clinic at Kalaheo, The Clinic/Urgent Care at Po'ipu, and
The Clinic at Kapa'a, are all part of the Kaua'i Region, Hawaii
Health Systems Corporation, is a public benefit corporation of the
State of Hawai'i. The Rehabilitation - Physical Therapy department
provides treatment by massage, therapeutic exercise, hydrotherapy,
electrotherapy or other methods as prescribed by the physician to
inpatients, and outpatients; assists nursing staff in providing
coordinated comprehensive rehabilitative care programs; as well as
maintains treatment records and provides staff education and
development. SALARY: $4,252 per month at 1.0 FTE - SR20 - BU13

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS To qualify, you must meet all of the
following requirements. Please note that unless specifically
indicated, the required education and experience are credited based
on a 40-hour workweek. Education: Applicants must possess a
master's degree or equivalent from an accredited college or
university in speech pathology or equivalent recognized by the
State of Hawai'i Board of Speech Pathology and Audiology. -
Certifications: Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
for Healthcare Workers from the American Heart Association is
required. - Licensures: A valid license with the State of Hawai'i
as a Speech Language Pathologist at the time of appointment.
Completion of all licensing requirements specified in the Rules of
the Board of Speech Pathology and Audiology of the State of Hawai'i
to practice as a Speech Pathologist (Evidence of licensure is
required); AND possession of an active, valid license to drive in
the State of Hawai'i. Experience: Professional experience which
dealt with the detection, prevention or the application of remedies
for the alleviation or treatment of speech-language disorders, or
teaching speech pathology at the graduate level in an accredited
university. - Substitution of Education for Experience: Possession
of a Ph.D. degree in Speech Pathology from an accredited college or
university may be substituted for one year of Speech Pathology
experience. - Desirable Qualifications: Ability to handle emergency
situations in a calm manner; ability to communicate and work
effectively with distraught or agitated individuals. WORKING
CONDITIONS Applicants must be physically able to perform,
efficiently and effectively, the essential duties of the position
which typically require the ability to read without strain printed
material the size of typewritten characters, glasses permitted, and
the ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a
hearing aid, or the ability to compensate satisfactorily. Physical
