I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Receives and processes payments, deposits, change fund requests
and reconciliations, and preparation of cash receipts journal at
North Hawai'i Community Hospital.
Follows-up on payment with patients on outstanding accounts.
Processes correspondence received from payers and patients.
Responds to patient inquiries promptly and courteously and
performs follow up on assigned self pay accounts.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Essential: finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking, and
lifting usual weight of 10 pounds; pushing/pulling usual weight of
50 pounds of force; reaching above, at and below shoulder level;
repetitive arm/hand motions; frequent gripping of an object.
Continuous: standing, walking.
Occasional: sitting, stooping/bending, kneeling, crawling,
climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, squatting, twisting
body, lifting maximum weight of 50 pounds, carrying weight up to 25
pounds, pushing/pulling maximum weight of 50 pounds of force,
static gripping of an object for prolonged periods.
Operates (equipment): typewriter, computer, printer, hospital
equipment and instructional equipment.

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
High school diploma or equivalent education.
Post high school courses or training in bookkeeping, cashiers or
One (1) year experience in business services, accounting or
finance department or banking.
Experience demonstrating knowledge of medical billing and
collection practices preferred.
Experience to demonstrate effective written and verbal
communication skills in English.
Experience with personal computers and Windows application such
as Excel and Word.
Knowledge of medical terminology and 3rd party regulations,
