A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER

As our Human Resources Manager, you oversee HR and general office operations to make sure that we are meeting our goals, values, and overall mission. You are responsible for talent acquisition, professional training, and talent management. Our HR department is small, but we serve a world-class observatory filled with highly skilled and technical staff. In order to best serve our team, you facilitate positive employee relationships and engagement. You also perform competitive market compensation tracking, diversity training, performance management, and payroll/benefit calculating.

You are a trusted and competent colleague. We can always depend on you for guidance, follow-up, and ongoing support. With care, you develop solid relationships with outside consultants to leverage our resources, technology, goals, and objectives. You ensure compliance with laws, develop policies, oversee department integrity, and stay attentive to employer needs. You get a great deal of satisfaction out of helping us attract and hold on to our greatest asset!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN HR MANAGER

  • SPHR/PHR or SHRM-SCP/SHRM-CP certifications
  • Seven+ years of progressive HR and management experience
  • Knowledge about compensation programs, performance management, employee relations, team engagement, and talent acquisition
  • Experience creating a culture of engagement, collaboration, and teamwork
  • Willing and able to develop policies and deliver results

A master's degree in human resources or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience) is a plus. Also, Microsoft Office proficiency and prior experience working in an engineering, science, research, or a nonprofit environment is preferred, but not required. Are you personally accountable? WORK SCHEDULE FOR AN HR MANAGER

This is a full-time position. The typical work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM. There may be room for some flexible work scheduling if needed!
