-ACCOUNTANT III The Accountant III independently performs
professional accounting work, which includes: analyzing fiscal
data, maintains and develops segments of accounting systems,
processing of payroll, maintenance of purchase journals, physician
compensation, malpractice insurance, etc., the compilation of
financial and statistical data for budgeting purposes, and any
other duties as assigned. This position is subject to travel to and
from all facilities within Kaua'i Region and may be required to
work long and irregular hours. This includes nights and holidays as
required, most especially during month and year-end closing. In
addition, this position may be required to provide leave coverage
for other lower level Accountant staff. The Accountant III reports
to the Accountant V, position no. 20743, or its designee. - STATUS:
- Permanent / Full-time (1.0 FTE) LOCATION: -This is a regional
position located in the Fiscal Services department of Kaua'i
Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH). KVMH, Samuel Mahelona Memorial
Hospital (SMMH), and The Kaua'i Region Clinics, which consist of
The Clinic at Waimea, The Clinic at Port Allen, The Clinic at
Kalaheo, The Clinic/Urgent Care at Po'ipu, and the Clinic at Kapa'a
are part of the Kaua'i Region, Hawai'i Health Systems Corporation,
a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawai'i. The Fiscal
Services department provides general accounting services, including
accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll; maintains
financial data for budget preparation, implementation, and control;
and is responsible for consolidated and individual financial
reporting. SALARY: $4,252 per month at 1.0 FTE - SR20 - BU13

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS To qualify, you must meet all of the
following requirements. - Please note that unless specifically
indicated, the required education and experience are credited based
on a 40-hour workweek. Education: -Bachelor's degree from an
accredited four (4) year of college or university with at least
twelve (12) semester credit hours in accounting and/or auditing
subjects. - Licensure: Current, valid driver's license.
Certifications: None required. Experience: One and one-half (1 1/2)
years of progressively responsible professional accounting or
auditing experience which -involved maintaining general journals
and general ledger accounts and related books and accounts, and
preparing balance sheets and profit and loss statements and related
accounting and financial reports. Experience of this nature may be
gained by performing duties as a principal bookkeeper, or other
responsible work requiring the preparation and/or analysis of
financial statements and accounting reports. DESIRED SKILLS &
ABILITIES Knowledge of: common, well-established theories,
principles, practices and techniques of accounting; computer
skills; software including, but not limited to, Excel, Microsoft
Word, etc. Ability to: prepare complete and accurate accounting
reports and statements, analyze data, detect errors and correct
inconsistencies in accounting records; and maintain effective
working relationships with others. WORKING CONDITIONS Applicants
must be physically able to perform, efficiently and effectively,
the essential duties of the position which typically require the
ability to read without strain printed material the size of
typewritten characters, glasses permitted, and the ability to hear
the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid, or the
ability to compensate satisfactorily. Working Conditions: The
position will work in an office environment with prolonged sitting
and extended periods of working with a personal computer and in
meetings. May be subject to long and irregular hours. This position
may provide leave coverage for other accounting staff within the
region. Physical Demands: Light physical effort (lift/carry up to
10 lbs.); occasional standing/walking. Vision & Hearing
Requirements: Ability to read without strain printed material the
size of typewritten characters, glasses permitted, and the ability
to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid.
Near acuity: the ability to see clearly at least 20 inches or less.
