Courtyard by Marriott King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel currently
has an opening for a talented Full Time Engineering Manager to
share the aloha spirit and strive to create a memorable guest
experience.Brief Summary of Job: Assists department head in
managing budget, capital expenditures, preventative maintenance,
energy conservation and sustainability efforts. Accountable for
maintaining the building and grounds with particular attention
towards safety, security, and asset protection. Assigns, tracks,
and follows up on status of work assigned to staff and contractors.
Helps increase guest and employee satisfaction through effective
staff training and communication.Essential Functions and
Responsibilities of the job include but are not limited to: Assists
in effectively planning, scheduling, and evaluating preventative
maintenance programs. Helps establish priorities for total property
maintenance needs. Supporting management of Department Operations
and Engineering Budgets. Supervises the day-to-day operations of
the Engineering department. Assists in managing the physical plant
including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water
treatment, water quality program, electrical and life safety
systems. Assures building equipment operates at an optimum
effectiveness, efficiency, and safety. Supervises distribution of
repair work orders. Assists in maintaining grounds, meeting rooms,
ballrooms, public space, restaurants, water features, property
vehicles and recreational facilities as needed. Creates and post a
weekly departmental; work schedule. Supervises Engineering in the
absence of the Director of Engineering. Recommends or arranges for
additional services such as painting, repair work, renovations, and
the replacement of furnishings and equipment as needed. Selects and
makes purchases of new equipment, supplies, and furnishings.
Manages parts, supplies and equipment inventories effectively by
minimizing downtime and maximizing cash flow. Assists in evaluating
and implementing modern technologies, equipment, and supplies.
Assists in overseeing energy and water conservation programs.
Conducting walk-throughs and visually assess the safe and efficient
maintenance and operation of the, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC
systems and any other related equipment. Verifying completion of
all routine maintenance on public spaces, meeting rooms, ballrooms,
outlets, back of the house spaces, and grounds. Verifying
completion of all repairs, replacement, and renovation projects to
offices and employee work areas. Adhering to all Hotel-required
purchasing policies and controls, including, but not limited to,
all outside contractor bids, budgets, and schedules.Maintaining
Engineering Standards Helps ensure regulatory compliance to
facility regulations and safety standards. Ensures compliance with
all Engineering departmental policies, standards, and procedures.
Ensures all employees have the proper supplies, equipment, and
uniforms to do their jobs.Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service
Displays leadership in guest hospitality by exemplifying excellent
customer service and creating a positive atmosphere for guest
relations. Interacts with guests to obtain feedback on product
quality and service levels. Empowers employees to provide excellent
customer service.Additional Activities Supervises staffing levels
to ensure that guest service, operational needs and financial
objectives are achieved. Helps train employees in safety procedures
and promote safe work practices. Assists in training other
department employees in fire protection, safety and evacuation
procedures as needed. Provides feedback to employees based on
observation of service behaviors. Assists in performing operational
activities, as necessary. Helps in emergency situations.

*JOB REQUIREMENTSKnowledge/Education/Experience: Requires 2-3 years
of previous experience managing in hotels or building engineering.
Must be able to read blueprints and have basic knowledge of
building codes. Technically proficient with computer applications
and energy management systems. Ability to obtain and/or maintain
any government required licenses, certificates, or permits as
needed to perform job function. Experience in a union environment
is preferred, however not required.Skills/Abilities/Other
Requirements: Excellent people management skills including
resolving conflict, coaching, and developing others, promoting
teamwork, and performance management. Ability to make timely,
effective decisions. Ability to prioritize, organize and delegate
work assignments. Ability to direct performance of team members and
follow-up with corrective action where needed. Ability to provide
legible written and verbal communications. Ability to have work
area organized and clean. Ability to compute basic mathematical
